Creation of Andulara
In the beginning, the world existed as a swirling mass of primordial energy. Ancient worlds formed and shattered to join the constant chaotic cacaphony. A single entity, that which is only known by the eldest of gods and primordials, sprang to being within this mass and, with a single action, split the planes. This action, known as the first thought, split planes between the astral and the ethereal. Thought, and dream. Ideal, and truth. Within this thought, the first deities formed. The blinding light of the sun, in Rinia. The darkest shadows, in Qhaotl, and the weave that bound together all of creation in Myrvaen.
Within the ethereal, as a world formed within the remnants of the tamed mass, the first primordials sprang to life in the elemental planes that surrounded it. This world, a far cry from the extremes that existed in the elemental planes, brimmed with endless potential, one that both the newly formed gods and the primordials desired.
The gods planted the first seeds, either becoming the patron deity of humanoids that formed in the world after its creation, or creating humanoids in their image and desire. The titans, their divine children, would shepard these humanoids, but the first giants and dragons were said to appear during this tumultuous time as well. The humanoids these titans managed could not prosper, however, with the primordials and their cataclysmic presence. Their movement and actions across the world altered the landscape, and humans had to live in places far from their reach, or depend on the titans that walked the land to defend them. The only humanoids that could live peacefully with the presence of the primordials were those who worshipped the Old Gods, born from the world itself, whose presence could shield those who flocked to them from the worst of the primordial’s influence. The primordials themselves refused to change, refused to take care in their actions and movement, and thus, a war between them and the gods started, over the right to oversee Andulara.
The War was waged across time and space, and scholars say that is still being waged, in different pockets of the present and future. Though the gods eventually won, killing many primordials, locking them away, or confining them to the ethereal and elemental planes, the formation of the abyss and the start of the blood war during this time took the gods attentions away from Andulara long enough for a multitude of Primal spirits of the land itself to emerge. Beings rapidly born from the blood of gods, primordials, giants, and dragons soaking into the land, imbuing it with a spirit and force of its own beyond the few that had already been created. The greatest of these spirits, the Kami, became absolute masters of the land, locking out the greater influence of both primordial and god alike.
Now, with a few notable exceptions, the primordials could not walk the land, lest they contend with the Kami, who were most powerful on the material plane. The first that tried were slain by the Kami, as were those who attempted to take a piece of Andulara with them when they fled, leaving an entire continent separated from the rest of the world. The gods needed to work with and through their followers. With enough supplication and sacrifice, even divine Avatars could be summoned. Spurned, the primordials turned to the potential within the Ethereal plane. Through their own will, the made their own small worlds and demiplanes, deep within the ethereal, and beyond the influence of the gods. They would always, however, hold their grudge over the ages, for the prime material plane that is Andulara.
